Your baby’s passport and documents.

A birth certificate and a passport give your baby a legal identity and the right to travel home with you. Our lawyer guides you through every step.

Passport and documents for a baby born through surrogacy
How it works

From birth certificate to flight home.

  1. 01

    Birth certificate

In Georgia your child is legally recognised as yours on the birth certificate, which lists you as mother and father. It is the document every other step depends on.

  2. 02

    Passport application

Our surrogacy lawyer assists you with the application. It usually requires the birth certificate from the Registrar and, if the consular authorities ask for it, a DNA test.

  3. 03

    Waiting in Georgia

Depending on your country, the process can take up to 30–40 days, and you will need to stay in Georgia during this time.

  4. 04

    Travelling home

Once the documents are issued, you fly home with your baby.

Our advice

Contact your embassy months before the birth.

Depending on your country, additional documents may be required, especially in international surrogacy. Contact your embassy or consulate several months before the birth, so all the paperwork can be prepared in advance. Our team has experience with many embassies and consulates; delays usually come from incomplete documentation, which careful preparation avoids.

Parents from Germany, Italy, Israel or Spain

The procedure for your country needs particular preparation. Please speak with our lawyer before you start, so you know exactly which steps apply to you.
